Currently, during the school year, I am either at work or at school. I work as hard as none with full time employment because I am rarely at home. And because many of the courses for my area of study are offered on line, I ususally have Saturday classes. So why is a person with two graduate degrees looking for full time employment? Well, I worked in government for several years. At that time the economy was bad and security for continuous employment was up in the air. I had just completed graduate school, and I would be released first in a budget cut. Our grants were not secure. I returned to school to become a certified educator. At that time education jobs were pretty secure.
I had an illness and left teaching for over ten years. When I returned, I was old enough to experience job discrimination. And my graduate degree ,which usually is a plus became a disadvantage. A 22 year old with no experience is cheaper to hire than a teacher with a master's. So I began working as a certified substitute and have been doing this for 4 years. So, that answers, somewhat, why am I looking for full time employment.
